Fun-A-Day is a yearly, collective art show started in 2004 by the ArtClash Collective in sunny Philadelphia. By it's sheer exuberance the event has taken like wildfire to other cities, and San Diego is now no exception.
For every day in the month of January, Fun-A-Day participants will commit to work on a project to show at a collective showing in February. There is NO restriction on the type of art that will be presented. In addition to hanging and other display space, there will be the capability to project 12' video and have live performance (weather permitting, with inside video projection viewing room as backup).
There is no cost to participate, and the deadline to register your project is December 16th.
--------- MISSION ---------
The Artclash Collective was started by a Philadelphia-based group of artists who organize art projects and shows that aim to be fun, inclusive and participatory. With each project/show, we seek to create a welcoming forum for people to share their art and form a community of artists. Our shows are always inclusive of anyone who wants to participate, free, all ages and we hope they serve as an inspiration for those who attend. We believe the desire to create is a fundamental human trait that we are often alienated from in modern society. We believe the act of creation can be a transformative experience that reestablishes the bond between artists and their humanity. We believe everyone is an artist and everything you make is art.
We hope we can inspire you to make art.

Lisa Starace
A handmade "zine" and cassette station exploring the relationship of memory to artifact. There is an original, one-of-a-kind zine inspired by a mix tape that can be listened to via headphones while reading the zine. This gives a textural, multi-sensory, hands-on experience. In addition, a limited quantity of copied zines are available to participants so they can explore the sensory difference between the copy and the original, and they can also own an artifact to help recall the sensory experience with their own "album" of it in the form of the copied zine.

I will be challenging myself to do a large-scale painting throughout the month of January. It is influenced by the religious iconography of the Byzantine Era, but with my own, modern-day interpretation, and is inspired by the healing, redeeming qualities of love and self-sacrifice. Personal, thought-provoking piece that might offend, or inspire.

Create a portrait a day for the whole month of January. Surrealistic piece with sea creatures (and maybe a person or two) and a black & white charcoal portrait.

Whimsical miniature pieces that call for the viewer to be up-close and personal. Art that is transformational depending on the interactions of the people with the piece and the space.

Domestic Violence Project: I will attempt to bring awareness to the issue of domestic violence -- and the women who have been killed by it -- through my art. I was a newspaper reporter for many years and I could express myself only in words on a printed page. Now that I work as an artist, I want to try to address the issue in a new way. www.danidodge.com

Have you ever been yelled at for touching the artwork in galleries or museums? It is different in this show. Everyone is encouraged to touch the artwork. As a blind artist I believe that there are different ways to make and appreciate art. In my case it is through touch. I use my sense of touch to create ceramic masks and pottery with unique forms and lots of texture. I am asking every visitor to experience my work first through their sense of touch before looking at them. I'll cover the pieces with a cloth or place them in cardboard boxes to keep them hidden from sight. After touching the pieces anyone who wants to take a look at them is welcome to do so. Don't worry there is nothing that might hurt when touching like things with sharp, pointy edges, cold or hot things etc. every thing in the show is made of ceramic and intended to be fun to touch.

I am shooting nature and objects that people often disregard. Secret beauty and often in contradiction appear in the most interesting places and I try to capture those images.

Basically my works are related to small things in daily life and imagination. These days as a non native speaker from Korea, I'm tring to express my feelings as painting. I wish It would be thought-provoking work.

My project is loosely based on the idea that the audience finishes the art piece. The artist hardly ever knows when a piece is finished, it's when you first show it to someone that it really hit them, so I give you my Ink Drawings. I let my mind run my hand wildly around the paper and I make tiny marks that end up creating a whole new form and each person sees' something different. It's a kind of art that everyone can enjoy because it's only what they see and nothing more. My work can be seen at:

Multimedia projection piece of dark and barroque art, featuring a mixture of animation, still art and live action.
Recurring events or objects have a tendency to stand out and catch our attention, showing us sometimes what is not there and running away with our imagination. These are called patterns and they can be found in the most random of arrangements; in nature, in buildings, in life and also in numbers and time. Some believe that they are just coincidence, others believe that these patterns can be good luck or even an evil curse.

Beauty has always been relative. But that 'always' needs more concentration than we'd like to admit. Sure, it's "in the eye of the beholder..." and yes, "those who look for beauty, find it..." But how often does one let another decide for them what beauty is to both? You sometimes open your eyes and realize that THAT fact has been steering YOU for most of your life. And hey, that possible day that you realize THAT you may just be okay with it. And hey, what's wrong with THAT anyway? Please tell me: what's the body-type I should love? what's the style of hair? what clothes? what shoes? what accent? what's my favorite color? YOU tell me because I think I trust your professional guidance more than anything I might think. And hey, enough about whatever hidden message there may be. This song is more about an admiration & respect for a particular someone. The beat in his style; the style is his step.

Popular music has become ossified and impactless. Over the month of January, I will digitally disassemble several popular performer's works, and present a sound and video collage questioning the nature and purpose of music in the current era.

I will be painting a 30"x40" canvas for 30 minutes each day. I will be using multiple mediums and multiple cameras to produce a masterpiece on canvas, as well as an interesting video overview capturing the process of creation.
